Counseling Built on Connection
At Inspire Counseling & Wellness, we believe meaningful change begins when people feel heard, understood and supported. We provide compassionate, personalized counseling for adolescents ages 13 and older and adults in Midland, Mt. Pleasant and virtually throughout Michigan.
Although our practice has grown, our purpose remains personal: to create a place where clients feel welcome, clinicians feel valued and every person receives thoughtful care that reflects their individual needs.
Our Story
Inspire Counseling & Wellness began with a simple belief: the people teaching and guiding future counselors should remain connected to the real experience of helping clients.
While earning his PhD and teaching at the university level, founder Michael Verona recognized the importance of continuing to practice alongside his academic work. He joined a counseling center, gained experience serving clients and eventually began considering what it would look like to create a practice of his own.
The idea took shape during a conversation around a dining room table. From that early discussion, Inspire Counseling & Wellness was born.
In January 2021, additional clinicians began joining the practice. Inspire expanded from Mt. Pleasant into Midland in June 2022. As those offices filled, the practice opened a second Midland location to meet the community’s growing need for counseling services.
Today, Inspire serves clients from three locations and virtually throughout Michigan. The practice has grown, but it has intentionally remained personal, connected and grounded in the relationships that started it all.

Thoughtfully Built
We are intentional about the people who join our team. Each clinician is selected not only for their education and experience, but also for the compassion, perspective and commitment they bring to their work.
We invest time and energy into supporting our clinicians because cared-for clinicians are better able to care for their clients. That support strengthens the therapeutic relationship, the practice and the communities we serve.
Our team is not simply assembled—it is thoughtfully built.
Compassionate Care
We create a welcoming space where every person feels heard, respected and supported. Care begins with understanding your experiences, needs and goals.
Thoughtfully Built Team
Our clinicians are selected with intention for their experience, professionalism and compassion. We invest in our team so they can provide exceptional care to every client.
Personalized Support
Counseling is not one-size-fits-all. We meet you where you are and shape your care around your individual needs, strengths and path forward.
Meaningful Connection
The benefits of counseling can extend beyond one person—strengthening relationships, families, workplaces and communities through a lasting ripple effect.

The Ripple Effect of Counseling
Counseling can begin with one person, but its impact often reaches much further.
When someone develops healthier coping skills, strengthens a relationship, works through trauma or begins to see a new path forward, that change can affect their spouse, parents, siblings, children, friends and coworkers.
Helping one person alter the trajectory of their life can create a ripple effect throughout a family, workplace and community. That wider impact is one of the reasons we believe so deeply in the work we do.
